NYU Receives 13% Increase in Applications for Record-Setting Class of 2027

NYU's Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Admissions, Jonathan Williams, announced that NYU has received nearly 120,000 applications for the Class of 2027, a 13% increase from last year's record-breaking pool. Of these applications, nearly 22,000 were Early Decision applications, representing a 14% increase from last year. The application growth reflects a 20% increase in applications from students from historically underrepresented backgrounds, both domestic and international. The rise in applications extends to all three of NYU's global campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai.

The admissions team is excited by early indicators that the upcoming first-year class will be even more diverse and intellectually strong than previous record-breaking years. The admissions team is also humbled to have been entrusted with the attention of so many applicants, particularly those who have applied as Early Decision applicants, signaling that NYU was their first choice. The admissions team is awaiting news from the Supreme Court regarding the consideration of race as a factor in their holistic evaluation process.
